Apprenticeship Requirement (Colorado)

Individuals pursuing electrician licensure in Colorado are required to participate in a state or federally registered apprenticeship program to ensure proper credit of on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom education hours.

Registered apprenticeship programs must be approved by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) and/or the U.S. Department of Labor, with apprentice participation tracked through the RAPIDS system. Classroom education hours must be issued as Related Technical Instruction (RTI) by or through an approved apprenticeship sponsor and supported by official documentation.

Licensing eligibility, acceptance of hours, and examination approval are determined solely by DORA.
